My next problem arose while I was working at my internship at WalMart...

I just finished my therapeutics exam for the kidneys and I now considered myself to be an expert on every single diuretic ever made (well doesn't everyone after the kidney exam considering how much they beat it into your head? ) So back to my story, a patient comes into the pharmacy to pick up his furosemide and his hydrochlorothiazide. Which I am happy to give to him and ask if there are any questions about his meds, because being a newly established diuretic champion, I was surely able to answer anything he could come up with. He then tells me that his doctor had told him to take his HCTZ thirty minutes before his furosemide (Is this classic priming the pump or what?!) but he took his furosemide this morning and was wondering if he should still take his HCTZ because he was afraid that something horrible might happen if he took his meds out of order.More »

So I'm sitting in my medicinal chemistry class and I'm learning about depression and antidepressant medication.

I'm just sitting here thinking how do people actually know this stuff? They could just be making all this up and I sit here and believe every word they say.More »
