Biography

Harold is a registered pharmacist who completed his undergraduate and pharmacy studies at Rutgers University. He is currently SVP, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of U.S. Pharmacist.

After graduation, he worked as a retail pharmacist in a variety of practice settings including community, chain, supermarket, hospital, and as an owner-operator of two of his own independent pharmacies. After leaving retail, Harold joined the world of publishing. He has held publishing and editorial positions in many pharmacy trade magazines including Drug Store News, Drug Topics, and Pharmacy Times. He is currently senior vice president, publisher, and editor in chief of U.S. Pharmacist.

During a brief interval spent outside of publishing, he held the position of Director of Professional Relations at Barr Laboratories, a leading generics pharmaceutical manufacturer.

During his 40-year professional career, Harold has served on several national and international association committees and boards, including the position of Chairman of the National Council of Prescription Drug Programs twice. He is a well-known speaker both here and abroad on topics related to pharmacy and communications. He has also spoken at many colleges of pharmacy and association meetings on topics ranging from the business of pharmacy to the profession of pharmacy.

As Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of U.S. Pharmacist, Harold is responsible for the editorial and business direction of this clinically focused, peer-reviewed publication with a circulation of 128,000 pharmacists in virtually every practice setting. In addition to its in-depth clinical editorial, each U.S. Pharmacist issue features articles on a variety of subjects important to pharmacists including: pharmacy law, FDA issues, exclusive patient-teaching aids, the latest information on new products, and continuing education. U.S. Pharmacist also publishes a "Health Systems Edition" each month targeted to approximately 37,000 health systems pharmacists, which include staff pharmacists, hospital directors, clinical pharmacists, HMO chief pharmacists, and consultant pharmacists.
