We lost a patient last month. Mr. M was at times very difficult to deal with, but he always wore the same hat. It was an American Red Cross hat and you could always tell how proud he was of it because of the many pins on both sides symbolizing how many pints of blood that he had donated. Therefore, you knew that there was a good side somewhere, but he was a little reluctant to reveal that other side.More »

It was a busy day at the pharmacy when I got the call.

"My dad was admitted to the hospital and he is on the hospice floor."

This was the report that I was getting from the son of one of our patients. A senior that anyone would like to have as a patient. He was never a problem and always friendly to us at the pharmacy.

"I just wanted to thank you for everything that you have done for my father."

Our patient is a doctor and his wife, a couple married for over fifty years and both over eighty years young. They are always very pleasant to deal with. Lately, life has not been easy for the doctor and he has spent time in the hospital and in a rehab facility. Over his career, this doctor was just like many other doctors from times gone by where he made many visits himself to patients in need at their homes. It was something he just did as a family physician. His son once described to me how his father would often leave during late hours of the night to see a patient in need.More »
